The classical Khmer dances often associated to Cambodia is a part of the national identity. Created to honor the gods and ancestors, the tradition of more than 1500 years perpetuated until the mid of the 1970’s and the Khmer Rouge Regime. Under Pol Pot, 90% of the artists of the classical scene disappeared, and their knowledge was gone with them. Madame EM THEAY, is one of the last depositary of these tradition of centuries.
