Phnom Penh Cyclo Drivers – Kings on the Streets-

The photo exhibition of “Phnom Penh Cyclo Drivers – Kings on the Streets-” shows the selected and compiled portraits of cyclo drivers around the Central Market (Phsar Thmei) in Phnom Penh which were taken by a Japanese expatriate, Eiichiro Hayashi, for the period of four years from 1996 to 1999.

The approximate 25 pictures depict the existence of the people who made their livelihood by pushing pedal of cyclo as popular transport for the common people in Phnom Penh at that time.

Eiichiro Hayashi worked in Phnom Penh from April 1996 to July 1998 for the first time in his life and has fortune to come back to work there for a few times afterwards. He has spent more than 10 years in Phnom Penh.
