Four Decades since the Fall of the Khmer Rouge

Painting exhibition by Sang Nan

From March 9 to March 22, 2019
Opening reception on March 11, 2019 at 6pm

In memory of the victims of the Khmer Rouge and to reflect on the past of Cambodia, the Bophana Center organizes on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the fall of the Khmer Rouge an exhibition of Sang Nan’s paintings.

Born after the reign of the Khmer Rouge, Sang Nan was mainly inspired by the stories of those who survived the regime. Nan expresses through his paintings the suffering, but also the hopes of those who lived under the Khmer Rouge regime. He gives the tragic history a face and encourages to remember the past that now belongs to Cambodia and to enter the intergenerational dialogue, such as he did.

11 paintings of Sang Nan will be shown for two weeks at the Bophana Center.
