DEY KRAHOM (RED EARTH), 2004

Organized by Photo Phnom Penh Festival

Exhibition opening 3:30pm Saturday, 27 November 2021
Bophana Audiovisual Resource Center

In 2004 Dana Langlois spent months documenting the Dey Krahom community living in the area of the National Theater and the White Building, which have since been destroyed. It was a unique community of 800 families, many of whom were involved in the life of theater and several are considered masters of their art. These portraits are a work of memory and preservation in black and white and the classic tradition of documentary photography. Dana Langlois, b. 1976, is the Founder and Artistic Director of Java Creative Café, Creative Generation and Our City Festival. She lives and works in Phnom Penh.
