Golden Slumbers
Directed by Davy Chou, 2011, 96 min, Khmer version with English subtitles
Golden Slumbers explores the rise and tragic fall of Cambodian cinema, from its beginnings in 1960 to its near-erasure under the Khmer Rouge in 1975. Of 400 films produced, only 30 survive today. Through testimonies of survivors, the film revives the myths and memories of a once-thriving film industry lost to genocide.
