A young soldier who enlisted in the Cambodian navy in 1971 was sent to join a military training program in the United States in 1974. When the Khmer Rouge took over Phnom Penh in 1975, he could not return to his motherland and lived with deep sadness. Nearly three decades later, he was finally given the opportunity to return, seeking inner peace in his homeland.
