The documentaries produced by young filmmakers within the framework of the project « Amplifying Voices of Indigenous Women and Discriminated Groups through innovative multimedia » implemented by Bophana Center, showing the real lives of indigenous people in Cambodia and focusing on education in their communities.

1. Don’t Give Up

In Ratanakiri province, Chhorvy is doing her best to teach children the Kreng language. Supported by students’ parents and her husband, who works away from home, Chhorvy does not give up. For her, it is above all a question of preserving their identity.

2. Last Hope
Directed by Sithort Ret, 2019, 13mn, Khmer and Bunong version with Khmer subtitles
Phun Mlek is a rice grower, she left school to help her parents. Her younger brother also left school to support his sister. Only her second younger brother and sister go to school. But the brother prefers to play games instead of studying. The family’s last hope is the little sister…

The screening will be followed by a talk with the two filmmakers regarding « Education in indigenous communities », conducted in Khmer. A Q&A session will be open for our audience.
