Krung Ton is 64 years old, belongs to the nationalities Khmer and Bunong Indigenous, and lives in Mondulkiri province. He has 7 children, but in 2019 one of his sons died. Today, he is the village leader, called ‘Me Kantrean’. He explains: “What worries me the most is the loss of our forests. It decreases the habitat for wildlife, and additionally, hunters from outside of our communities kill the animals illegally. Now, some of them are endangered, like the Banteng. But if we have to leave these forests, where can we live?”
