In Time To Come

by Tan Pin Pin, 2017, 63min, No spoken dialogue

Set in Singapore, In Time To Come follows the ritualistic exhuming of an old state time capsule, and the compilation of another. As enigmatic remnants of life from 25 years ago emerge—a bottle of water from the Singapore River, a copy of Yellow Pages, a phone charger—today’s selection of items are carefully primed for future generations to decode.

Tan Pin Pin chronicles the gaps in history, memory and documentation. Her films study the process of self-examination itself, rendering its complexities with emotional power and visual clarity. They have been screened at numerous
prestigious international film festivals and she has already won many awards.
