Shored Up

A film by Ben Kalina, 2013, 84 min, English version

A screening in partnership with Zero1 and the U.S.Embassy Phnom Penh, in the framework of American Arts Incubator–Cambodia.

Shored Up is a documentary that asks tough questions about coastal communities and the relationship to the land. It explores the New Jersey shore and the Outer Banks of North Carolina in light of super storms and rising seas level that have placed these towns and cities on the front lines of climate change. Shored Up talks to scientists, politicians, residents and a wide range of experts to expose major shortcomings in coastal management and the immediate need for change. Beach engineering has been the only approach so far, but is there something else out there to be explored? It’s time to start looking for solutions.
