The Cham people are an Austronesian ethnic group who have been in contact with the Mon-Khmer peoples for more than two thousand years. Following the fall of the Champa Kingdom, they left their ancestral homeland and sought refuge among the Khmer people, a community rich in cultural heritage and distinguished artistic traditions.

The culinary arts of the Cham people, deeply rooted in their cultural heritage, have continued to develop and thrive to the present day. Among these traditions, “Flower Cakes,” a traditional Cham delicacy, represent a cultural expression of Khmer-Cham harmony and coexistence.

Through this lecture, we will explore the origins and development of the Cham traditional practice of making Flower Cakes in Cambodia.
