Chapey Dong Veng music performed by Mr. Prach Chhoun
Bophana Center would like to present “Chapey Dong Veng” music performed by Elder Prach Chhuon in 1972.
When the Chapey Dong Veng is played in the marriage and Arak musical ensembles, it plays along with the Bai Bobos. If the Chapey Dong Veng is played with a singer, the instrument often follows the line of the voice. This is a popular type of accompaniment which has come to be called “Chapey singing”. This is according to “Cambodian Music” by Mrs. Keo Narom.
“Chapei Dong Veng” was inscribed as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO on November 30, 2016.
