Apsara Khmer Ballet in exile

Directed by KEBADIAN, Jacques, 1988, 99minutes, Khmer version

In 1980, survivors from the Ballet, who were refugees in France and in the Camp of Site B at the Khmer-Thai border, revived these Apsara dances. This document shows this revival, from refugee camp to France and from training to performance.

Founded by film director Rithy Panh, Bophana Center collects every archive images and sounds on Cambodia, and it offers free public access to this unique heritage. Bophana Center also trains young Cambodians for careers in filmmaking, broadcasting and new media. The goal is to open their mind to artistic creation and foster a personal cultural production.

ARPAA has a zero-tolerance policy on conduct that is incompatible with the aims and objectives of the United Nations and ARPAA, including sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment, abuse of authority and discrimination. ARPAA also adheres to strict child safeguarding principles.
