Reporters of a Collateral Conflict, Cambodia 1970-1975

Lecture by Jean-François Bouvet

In the backyard of the Vietnam conflict, Cambodia is, for journalists, a very different universe. A world of dusty roads where danger – Viet Cong, Khmer Rouge – may erupt at each moment from imprecise frontlines of a widespread conflict. A capital town progressively encircled, where in the din of rockets or bombings vibrations, reporters witness the ambient chaos.

Numerous are those who like Gilles Caron or Sean Flynn, disappeared early on the road. Others like Elizabeth Becker or John Swain, will knit with Cambodia a link till potent today.
