Painter Vann Nath’s own story. He was one of the few survivors of the S21 prison in Phnom Penh.

On the second anniversary of Vann Nath’s death, his family releases the Khmer version of his autobiography One year in the S21 Khmer Rouge Prison. Vann Nath wanted his book to be published in Khmer, and therefore rewrote his original manuscript in order to share his experience with his countrymen.

    Founded by film director Rithy Panh, Bophana Center collects every archive images and sounds on Cambodia, and it offers free public access to this unique heritage. Bophana Center also trains young Cambodians for careers in filmmaking, broadcasting and new media. The goal is to open their mind to artistic creation and foster a personal cultural production.
