Nostalgia de la Luz

A film by Patricio Guzman, 2010, 90 min, Spanish version with French subtitles.

In Chile’s Atacama Desert, astronomers peer deep into the cosmos in search for answers concerning the origins of life. Nearby, a group of women sift through the sand searching for body parts of loved ones, dumped unceremoniously by Pinochet’s regime, the military dictator from September 11, 1973 to March 1990. This fascinating film is a cinematographic reflection on space, time and memory; on
visible and invisible.
