James Wasserman, is presenting a series of photographs from his 1991 trip to Phnom Penh, Cambodia to photograph the first group of graduating students from the Masters Program at the School of Dance, Faculty of Choreographic Arts, School of Fine Arts, Phnom Penh. These dancers were instructed by the last generation of master artists that survived Cambodia’s genocide creating a link from the era when the dancers were trained at the Royal Palace to today’s academy-oriented program.

The impetus for this project was from the anthropologist Toni-Shapiro-Phim, Phd who was invited to undertake a research project documenting the School of Dance and the generation of master dancers who were responsible for starting the program.

This exhibition will be shown from November 3rd to November 30th.
