The People of Angkor

Directed by Rithy Panh, 95min, 2003, Khmer Version with English subtitles

The film follows a young Cambodian boy and shows the daily life of people living around the temples of Angkor. The young boy is wondering about his future. He would love to become a guide of the historical site but he is too poor to go to school. Older men give him some advice. An ancient farmer talks about rice fields, a man shows his gamecock while other men working on the temples renovation explain the legends and magical stories depicted on the stones.
