“Pillarless House,” tells the story of a family of three, living on a boat on the Mekong River in Phnom Penh. Mrs. Nath Touch,​ Cambodian-Muslim, is a mother of the family who collects cans that are left after drinking. Her husband makes money by begging. Since he was hit by a motorcycle ten years ago, he is disabled and can’t work anymore. She has a seven years old daughter, and old enough to go to school. But the family is unable to afford education. Therefore, the daughter, who also suffers from a physical illness, cannot study and instead​ helps her mother to collect cans.
