For more than 25 years, Mr. Martin Rathie has been investigating the scope and significance of Lao-Cambodia’s revolutionary relations. In this presentation, he will cover an eclectic range of personalities and events to show that a lot was going on in the Laos-Cambodia frontier zone. Furthermore, he will demonstrate how ethnic Lao from northeastern Cambodia took up key roles in both the Lao and Cambodian revolutionary movements. Finally, he will shed some light on the fate of Khmer Hanoi, who returned from the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) to help liberate Cambodia in 1970. His presentation will include archival images as well as photographs that he has collected in the field.
