In this photo series by Jessica Austin, portals and points of light in the darkness suggest a gateway into the past lives of cinemas in Cambodia. Photos taken inside old cinemas in Kampong Cham, Battambang, Kampot, and Kratie invite the viewer to enter these public spaces that have had many lives and now exist between memory and obliteration. The photos and information provided hope to inspire and sensitize the public to the history of Cambodia’s cinemas and the research and
preservation efforts that are happening today.
