49. Ms. Oem Ponley and Mrs. Phoeng Hok

Mrs. Phoeng Hok was married at the age of 21 and her husband was a Lon Nol soldier. In Lon Nol era, she was given military training, but she had not yet entered any battlefield before the Khmer Rouge. During the Khmer Rouge, she was sent to pull out seedlings, transplant rice, and carry soil. At dawn, she was sent to spin silk and learn to weave. She had to pulled cotton out of the ground to make yarn. The Khmer Rouge forced her to marry. Up to 50 couples were married at the time.
