Let’s enjoy numerous cultural events in these two months at the Bophana Center. Special programs include: Cine-Saturday (Fiction films and documentaries), Cine-Club (Artists’ films and short films), the 9th edition of Cambodia International Film Festival, Painting Exhibition: “Four Decades since the fall of the Khmer Rouge” of Sang Nan, and NyoNyum the 100th issue, Exhibition and Event.
The documentary filmmaking and multimedia training of the project “Amplifying voice of Indigenous Women and discriminated groups through innovative multimedia” is initiated and organized by the Bophana Center (ARPAA) in partnership with the Cambodia Film Commission (CFC), and under the support of Voice Program (Oxfam Cambodia), and under the support of the Australian Embassy in Cambodia. This project provides a full scholarship to 12 Cambodian and indigenous youth from Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, and Banteay Meanchey province.
The main purposes of this project are the promotion of the rights of indigenous women and discriminated groups, and the provision of an opportunity to amplify their voice through documentary film, made by the youth from their community under the perspective of: “Nothing about us without us”.
The documentary filmmaking and multimedia training will be officially inaugurated on Friday, February 01st, 2019 at 6:00pm at Bophana Center, with participation presided over by H.E. TITH Thavrith, under Secretary of State of Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts and the high representative of H.E. PHOEURNG Sackona, the Minister of Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, Mrs. Sok Chanchhorvy, representative of the VOICE Program of Oxfam Cambodia, H.E. Angela Corcoran, Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, Mr. Rithy PANH, founder of the Bophana Center, and Mr. Sopheap CHEA, Executive Director of Bophana Center.

Happy New Year 2019 from the Bophana Center! At the beginning of the New Year, you can freely participate in a variety of new cultural events at our center, such as Cine Saturday (Documentaries, fiction films and short films), Cine-Club, Presentation of Mr. Keo Duong about the resistance against the Khmer Rouge and Mr. Sok Lak’s Lecture regarding the contribution of libraries for development.
With the support of VOICE through Oxfam in Cambodia, and the support of the Australian Embassy in Cambodia, the Association for researching, producing and archiving the audiovisual documents (ARPAA) is implementing a project called “Amplifying voice for indigenous women and discriminated groups through innovative multimedia” which will last 24 (twenty four) months.
This project will provide a full scholarship to 12 (twelve) selected candidates, to attend documentary filmmaking and multimedia training.
Conditions:
– Be a candidate who originally comes from one of the three targeted provinces: Banteay Meanchey, Mondulkiri or Ratanakiri (Women and indigenous people are prioritized)
– Be between 18-30 years old
– Be a person achieving at least Baccalaureate(Bac II) (Candidates knowing English and having computer skills are prioritized)
– Be a person who is fully interested in cinema (film)
– Be a person who likes team work
– Be a person who is available for all the sessions of the training
Benefits:
– The selected candidates will receive a scholarship which covers the costs of study, food and accommodation for the full training.
– The candidates will receive knowledge on both, theory and technique, from trainers who are experienced in film production for many years.

– Opportunities to present his/her film at national and international film festivals

“Transmissions 2018” online exhibition launching & Outdoor Movie Screening
To celebrate the world day for audiovisual heritage, with this year’s theme “Your Story Is Moving”, Bophana Audiovisual Resource Center presents Rithy Panh’s latest movie “Graves Without A Name”(2018, 115 min, Khmer & French version with English subtitles), on October 27th, 2018, at 6:30PM at Bophana Center. Free admission
On this occasion, the Bophana Center also launches an online exhibition, called “Transmissions 2018”. It provides a variety of materials, such as films, photos and texts and deals with the happenings during the Khmer Rouge regime and the inter-generational dialogue between the Khmer Rouge survivors and youth. Through documenting and sharing the personal stories of the survivors, “Transmissions 2018” focuses on the importance of “acts of memory for Cambodian people to move forward”.
