2018 World Day for Audiovisual Heritage of UNESCO

“Transmissions 2018” online exhibition launching & Outdoor Movie Screening

To celebrate the world day for audiovisual heritage, with this year’s theme “Your Story Is Moving”, Bophana Audiovisual Resource Center presents Rithy Panh’s latest movie “Graves Without A Name”(2018, 115 min, Khmer & French version with English subtitles), on October 27th, 2018, at 6:30PM at Bophana Center. Free admission

On this occasion, the Bophana Center also launches an online exhibition, called “Transmissions 2018”. It provides a variety of materials, such as films, photos and texts and deals with the happenings during the Khmer Rouge regime and the inter-generational dialogue between the Khmer Rouge survivors and youth. Through documenting and sharing the personal stories of the survivors, “Transmissions 2018” focuses on the importance of “acts of memory for Cambodian people to move forward”.

“Graves Without A Name” is released in Cambodia!

“Graves Without a Name”, another film by Rithy PANH after the Missing Picture (2014 OSCAR NOMINEE) and Exile, will be screened from September 15th in Paris Eden Cinema, at Bophana Center. Graves Without a Name

Congratulations to Bophana Co-Founder Rithy Panh on the premiere of “Graves Without a Name,” his new documentary that will debut at the Venice Film Festival’s independent film competition, Venice Days! His entry will open the section, followed by ten others from across the world. We hope that Rithy’s brilliant new work will garner the prestigious Giornate degli Autori Award!


Bophana Center will be closed for 3 days

Bophana Center would like to announce that our center will be closed from Saturday, July 28th through Monday, July 30th​​​​​​ on the occasion of National Election in Cambodia. Consequently, Ciné Saturday will be canceled​ on this weekend. We will resume working on Tuesday, July 31st at 8 am. Thank you!

Project’s main objectives and results:
Goal: To educate youth on Khmer Rouge history, using innovative multimedia application with history contents validated by experts, raising awareness about justice, human rights and peace, and fostering inter-generational dialogue. Three objectives are implemented:
1. To create a quality and innovative educational multimedia application on Khmer Rouge History.
2. To educate Cambodian youth on Khmer Rouge history using the application
3. To maximize the use of the learning application widely.

Bophana Center is happy to come up with a bi-monthly program rich in cultural event includes two exhibitions “Leave no one behind – beneficiaries and implementers of IDPoor” is on going until July 20th and “Language Barrier” is from August 15th to September 20th, Cine Saturday, and Cine Club. This is to inform that the ARCHIVE CONSULTATION SPACE of the Bophana Center will be closed from Saturday 12 – Saturday 19 May 2018 to make an update of its database.
The archives consultation will be possible from Monday May 21, 2018.
